Flor de Parcha

Flor de Parcha comes from an afternoon I carry with me: walking through my grandmother's garden in Puerto Rico as she watered her flowers, the two of us picking ajíes, recao, and parchas straight from the vine. Those small harvests were never just ingredients — they were how she kept us close to the land, and how, without ever saying so, she taught me that home has a flavor. This painting places the parcha flower at its center, in full bloom, as a way of holding onto that memory: the garden, her hands, the quiet ritual of gathering what would season our meals and sweeten our afternoons. Wherever we go, we carry a bit of Puerto Rico with us in the tastes that remind us of home.
